Lavis wins back to back with Yambora Boy

WINS are coming like London buses for one of Patrick Lavis's charges - when one arrives, another shortly follows.

Yambora Boy achieved back-to-back victories by taking the $2215 620m Sportingbet Stayers Stakes at yesterday's Casino meeting.

The three-year-old had gone winless for more than a year before taking victory over 620m last Friday.

Another strong display saw the $10.30 shot claim just its fourth win in 47 outings with yesterday's triumph.

Marilyn Swift was the day's bigger, taking out the $1750 484m Betfair Blue Paws Heat Three.

Swift's charge Stormy Monsoon was a distant $26.50 shot, but ran a superb race to take victory by more than two lengths.

It was only the bitch's second victory in 17 outings, but confirmed the two-year-old's ongoing improvement since a falling at Lismore in March.

After dropping back to 484m after that failure to finish, the dog has placed in four of its six outings and may be one to keep an eye on at the distance.

Racing continues in the region at Lismore on Tuesday.

The 10-card meeting includes the $2015 520m Shaws Bay Hotel Ballina Stakes.

A handy field has been assembled, including in-form campaigner Sassy Dior.

The two-year-old bitch, which starts from box five, triumphed on its last three outings before another podium finish at Casino yesterday

Action gets started at 6.41pm.
