Comedians stand up for Big Gig

TONIGHT’S Big Gig at the Ballina RSL Club promises a night of side-splitting laughs.

Paul Brasch, Ellen Briggs and Mandy Nolan will take to the stage, showcasing some of the best acts Australian stand-up comedy has to offer.

Comedy has taken Paul Brasch all over the world. From Australia to New Zealand to Canada to Papua New Guinea.

He has worked with many comedy greats over the years including Glynn Nicholas, Mick Molloy, Tony Martin, Shane Bourne, Judith Lucy and Jimeoin.

Paul had his own radio show for four years, ‘The Paul Brasch Show’ on Brisbane’s Triple M every Sunday night as well as writing for Triple M’s Breakfast Show.

Paul will be joined on stage by support act Ellen Briggs – a rapidly rising star on the international comedy scene.

Ellen has appeared on ‘Stand Up Australia’ and was a finalist at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2007.

She has performed with the various greats of comedy over the years, including Austen Tayshus, Charlie Pickering, Sean Chulburra and Gina Yashire.

She regularly performs as a comedian and MC at venues all over Australia, and can often be heard on ABC North Coast Radio and Byron Bay’s community radio station, Bay FM.

Ellen was recently contacted by Suzie Perry, a popular BBC television personality from the UK. Ms Perry wants Ellen to help her out with some co-writing for several upcoming television and public appearances.

Mandy Nolan needs no introduction to Northern Rivers audiences.

The serial mother and stand-up comedian will act as MC tonight but will also tantalise the audience with her unique version of comedy.

Catch the trio at Big Gig at the Ballina RSL Club tonight.

Doors open at 7.30pm. Show at 8pm. Tickets are $5 at the door.
