Late night rescue at Cape Byron
A MAN believed to be a rock fisherman was rescued from the rocks at Cape Byron late last night.
He suffered severe head injuries after falling down a track fisherman use to access the ocean around 5pm
Emergency service including police, ambulance and the Volunteer Rescue Association were in attendance from around 6pm
A rescue helicopter was tasked form Queensland as the local chopper was already out on a job.
The man was winched away from the site at around 10pm and emergency personnel had to use night goggle technology.
The man was airlifted to Ballina where his condition was stabilised, before he was being taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane.
