Kyogle to Krakow for World Youth Day 2016

Two teachers at St. Brigid’s in Kyogle have been invited to take part in the Lismore Diocese Pilgrimage to World Youth Day to be in held in Krakow, Poland in late July. This fantastic experience for Miss Laura Hughes and Mr Brendan Tickle will see them leave Australia with the group on the 19th July and spend three weeks in Europe.
The World Youth Day 2016 Pilgrimage is a professional formation program that will both strengthen staff as witnesses to Jesus Christ and communicators of the Catholic faith to students.
World Youth Day 2016 will be held in Krakow from 27 - 31 July. This is the city of St John Paul II, where he was a priest and Archbishop until his election as Pope in 1981. The highlight of this week will be participation in the celebration of Mass by His Holiness, Pope Francis. Prior to the WYD week, the pilgrimage will include a guided tour of Warsaw, a visit to the Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa, excursions to Auschwitz and Wadowice (the Museum dedicated to St John Paul II). The pilgrimage will conclude with time in Vienna before returning to Australia on the 5th of August.

“This will be a fantastic learning opportunity for Laura and Brendan and I know that they and all of our Parish School community will benefit from their participation and involvement in such a wonderful experience” said St Brigid’s Principal, Mr Tony Hunter.
