Kyogle prepares for top enduro event on outskirts

IT'S the three-legged marathon of dirt bike riding.

Endurance bikers will be embarking on a five-hour off-road race outside Kyogle on Sunday.

The Honda Pony Express pairs up riders and requires them to stay together as they navigate the circuit through natural terrain and bushland.

Kyogle Dirt Bike Club is hosting the event where senior division men race for five hours, while women and juniors compete for three hours.

The winners are the pairing that does the most laps.

Although usually held in south-east Queensland, organisers have moved the first round of the Pony Express to about 6km outside Kyogle, on the Kyogle-Murwillumbah road.

The event is expected to draw some of the best riders in the country alongside local talents.
