Kyogle PO best in country
IT'S official. The Kyogle Post Office is the best licensed outlet in country Australia.
Australia Post officials will personally deliver the National Excellence Award to Kyogle Post Office co-licensees, Glennis Coyle and Cheryl and Warren Bushell.
“I'm still humbled, we don't do anything special,” Mrs Bushell said.
But they must be doing something right, because Kyogle Post Office beat 3000 other licensed post offices across the country.
They had already celebrated their previous win in August for the best licensed post office outside the metropolitan areas of NSW. Now with this national win more celebrations are planned.
Australia Post spokesperson Scott McIntyre congratulated staff at Kyogle.
“Residents and businesses in Kyogle should be very proud of their post office,” he said.
“In particular, Kyogle was recognised for its increase in business and a number of positive customer compliments over the past year.”
Serving more than 10,000 people in Kyogle and district, staff at the post office start sorting the mail at 6.30am every day.
“It's a lot of hard work and long hours,” Ms Coyle said.
It was Mrs Bushell's mum who enticed her into working for Australia Post in 1991. In 1998, with husband Warren and her sister Glennis, she bought the licence for the post office.
“I love what I do and I can't imagine not doing it,” Mrs Bushell said.
The Northern Star announced the state win for the Kyogle Post Office in August.
Staff at the post office are busy informing customers about the latest win, but there is confusion about their previous state award. This new award names them as the best licensed post office in regional Australia.
