Kohli the best, says Flintoff
ENGLAND cricket legend Andrew Flintoff says Virat Kohli is a much greater batsman than Aussie rival Steve Smith.
The Ashes villain says Kohli is a greater all-round player than Smith, despite the New South Welshman's Test batting average of 59.32 far surpassing Kohli's Test average of 49.90.
Flintoff says Kohli is the best batsman on the planet right now, ahead of the other members of the so-called "Big Four" - Smith, Kane Williamson (New Zealand) and Joe Root (England).
"They're all very, very good players but Virat is head and shoulders above all of them," Flintoff told metro.co.uk.
"You watch him play and the one thing that's so impressive is that in Test cricket he's got all the shots and tricks but decides to get his head down and grind runs out.
"And then in the short-form of the game he just hits boundaries without looking like taking a risk. He's in complete control.
"The other three I mentioned are very good players but Kohli is on a different planet."
Kohli is yet to make a contribution with the blade this series with scores of 0, 13, 12 and 15 against Australia.
