Kingscliff family’s light display stolen from yard
A KINGSCLIFF family has been left deeply disappointed after lights from their Christmas display were stolen from their front yard this week.
Martin Fairweather said that alought the display was simple and not very expensive he struggled to fathom why someone would bother to destroy it.
Fairy lights, canes and soloar stakes were amoung the items ripped from the yard.
"It's not the cost, it's more the fact that they did that and the destroyed the tree," he said.
A frangipanni was left a mere stump after strings of lights were ripped from its branches.
Mr Fairweather said his daughter, Maya, 6, and Allie, 2, were very disappointed by the senseless act.
"They are pretty upset," he said.
"They liked going out at night to look at them."
Mr Fairweather said he simply wanted people to be warned that there are people in the community who will undertake such a senseless act.
He said next year the family would be moving its entire display to the roof, which currently features lights and a santa.
