Kevin Hogan promises $23,253 for Scout Hall upgrade
NATIONALS candidate for Page Kevin Hogan has announced that a Coalition Government will provide a $23,253 grant to the Mid Richmond Neighbourhood Centre to upgrade their kitchen in the Scout Hall.
Mr Hogan said the project would significantly improve the centre's capacity to service their expanding programs including the Mums & Bubs and Snappers Playgroups, Prenatal Support, and Mums Fitness Program.
"This is a really worthy project to improve the functionality and capacity of the Centre, I'm delighted to be able to help out," Mr Hogan said.
"The Mid Richmond Neighbourhood Centre is a great community organisation and staff have worked extremely hard to expand their services and better serve the community.
"The renovation of the kitchen which is currently underutilised will allow the centre to run their programs more effectively and up to Australian Food Safety standards.
"It will include a hot water system, child safety barricades, fridge, new stove, benches, cupboards, plumbing & electricals.
Catherine O'Halloran from the centre said the project compliments the other programs they have been working on.
"Renovation of the Scout Hall kitchen would allow for food preparation and preservation of surplus produce from both Community Garden & Harvest programs rescued from farms & backyards," Ms O'Halloran said.
"It is also vital to allow for food and nutrition focused programs through established Early Childhood Programs which promote and educate healthy eating for children and their families.
"We've worked hard on these sorts of programs, I'm really happy we'll finally be able to have a functional kitchen in the centre."
