Karate legend to visit Lismore

WORLD karate legend Bill ‘Superfoot’ Wallace will make his way to Lismore this month to meet karate fans and sports lovers alike.

Hailing from the United States, the world kickboxing title-holder has scheduled in a one-day regional stopover at Richard Marlin’s Success Martial Arts Academy in South Lismore as part of his 2010 Australian training tour. Here, he will spend three hours coaching local karate adults and kids not just how to improve their stretch and kick but also how to use the sport of karate to kick goals in life.

Wallace’s visit will be his first-ever to northern NSW after accepting an invitation from Lismore’s very own multi-award-winning martial arts coach and trainer, Master Richard Marlin.

Marlin first trained with Wallace almost three decades ago and said seeing him in action for the first time was one of the most inspiring experiences in his karate career – and it will be for local martial arts fans when they see him later this month, too.

“His kicking ability coupled with incredible speed just blew my mind. He was the first person I had ever seen who could use multiple lightning-fast kicks without putting their foot down,” Marlin said.

“I have trained with him many times since and he has the same skills, the same flexibility and the same entertaining and engaging way of teaching.”

Marlin is encouraging local karate fans to take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to gain exposure to the tips, skills and knowledge of a world champion, globally-renowned martial arts teacher and trainer.

“When he’s not competing, he tours the planet motivating and mentoring all athletes and sports fans but it’s rare that he’ll make a regional Australian stopover,” he said.

“We’re really lucky to have him in Lismore and we want to make him welcome.”

Marlin is also inviting members of the local community who are interested in seeing or experiencing martial arts at its best to witness this world karate legend in action. However, tickets are limited.

Contact Richard Marlin on 0416-070505 and sign-up for Bill Wallace’s three-hour marathon stretching and kicking session, to be held at 6pm on Friday, May 21.
