Karate juniors fight their way to success in their first bout

TWO state champions have walked out of a Gold Coast karate competition and they are both from the same Northern Rivers club.

Imogen Crampton took home first in the 12-13 years Point Sparring and Frederika Yee won advanced Forms.

Both students are from the Northern Rivers Shukokai Karate Club.

Six students from the club competed at the National All Styles, State Titles Tournament this month and between them brought home the two firsts, a second place and two third places.

They competed in Kata, Team Kata and Kumite events, and it was their first time competing.

Their head instructor, Barry Potts, said all students performed with great confidence and showed great sportsmanship towards other competitors.

The students will be heading to Melbourne in five weeks to compete at the National Titles.
