Kadina high achievers grab the chance to learn with Governor
KADINA High School captains Vienna Barker and Taylor McBeath expanded their education when they took part in the 2013 Secondary School Student Leadership program in Sydney last week.
The pair were among secondary school captains from around the state invited to attend the program by NSW Governor Marie Bashir and presiding officers of the NSW Parliament.
The event gave Vienna and Taylor the chance to develop their knowledge of parliament and the role of the Governor.
Kadina High principal Ian Davies said that the program recognised the leadership roles of school captains.
"This was an excellent opportunity for Vienna and Taylor to represent Kadina at the state's highest level," he said.
"They had the opportunity to become more aware of democratic processes and experience the environment of Parliament House and Government House."
Prior to meeting with the Governor at Government House, Vienna and Taylor visited the NSW Parliament in Macquarie St, where they met with Lismore MP Thomas George.
They also met with Kadina High's Extension English teacher Lars Norberg to participate in a HSC Extension English seminar.
