Jupiters unmasks first stage show

WITH the opening of their $20 million redeveloped theatre just weeks away, Jupiters Hotel & Casino continues to up-the-ante for launch celebrations announcing Jabbawockeez as the property's first stage show from April 24, 2012.

Direct from Vegas, Jupiters Hotel & Casino will roll out the red carpet for the world famous dance crew Jabbawockeez as they present the critically acclaimed MÜS.I.C (muse-i-see).

The groundbreaking Australian premiere will be an entertainment experience like no other, true to its tagline LAUGH. CHEER. MOVE.

Far from a typical dance production, MÜS.I.C features a unique mix of freestyle movement and theatre, appealing to a wide audience with captivating characters, heart-felt themes, laugh-out-loud comedy and a track list of songs to suit all ages.

The Jabbawockeez cast will take to the stage unified as a group, using their signature expressionless white masks and gloves to guide the audience's attention away from individual identities to focus on their distinctive style.

Jabbawockeez came to fame in their national television appearance on Americas' Got Talent in 2006, before winning MTV's America's Best Dance Crew in 2008.

Jupiters Hotel & Casino acting managing director and general manager finance and entertainment, Craig Peachey, said the property was excited to bring Jabbawockeez to the Gold Coast as part of their commitment to bringing the best performers to the city.

"Over the last year, Jupiters Hotel & Casino has truly become an international venue attracting a host of live entertainment from around the world," Mr Peachey said.

"We have welcomed the likes of Snoop Dogg, Rihanna, Kings Of Leon and Rod Stewart to our property and we have confirmed Michael Bolton, Tony Bennett, Seal, Kelly Rowland and Burt Bacharach amongst the first performances for the launch of Jupiters Theatre.

"The opening of the new Jupiters Theatre is tipped to be a huge celebration with live concerts, stage shows and mega events stretched across two weeks of non-stop entertainment, and Jabbawockeez will take our resident show offering to a whole new level.

"Jabbawockeez has been a sensation in Las Vegas appealing to all ages and we're proud to bring them to the Australian audience," he said.

The 90 minute MÜS.I.C show, directed by Emmy-nominated and "So You Think You Can Dance" choreographers Tabitha and Napoleon, is a full-scale production complete with drama, comedy, grand sets and costume changes, incorporating original music and re-worked renditions of well-known hits from the likes of Michael Jackson, James Brown, Queen and Black Eyed Peas.

MÜS.I.C is described by Jabbawockeez as: "the audio-visual story of inspiration brought to life through the harmonisation of sound and movement".

Jabbawockeez is the first dance crew to ever successfully headline their own dedicated stage show in Las Vegas and after a three-week sell-out run at the MGM Grand, MÜS.I.C took up a larger and long-term residency at the Monte Carlo Resort and Casino.

They have appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Live With Regis and Kelly, Dancing With The Stars, America's Next Top Model, and The Jimmy Fallon Show; they boast an enviable celebrity fan-base including Will Smith and Jamie Foxx; and they interact with a Facebook fan base of 3.2 million followers and counting.

Jabbawockeez will bring the all-encompassing energy of MÜS.I.C to Jupiters Theatre for a strictly limited season with nightly performances Tuesday through Saturday at 7.30pm, Sunday Matinee at 4pm, Wednesday 1pm Matinees and a Saturday Matinee starting at 3pm.
