Mackay has X Factor star in Judah

MACKAY has a star in the making.

He is 15, his name is Judah Kelly, and you might even see him on X Factor tonight.

The talented North Mackay State High student auditioned in Cairns, before going on to the Gold Coast auditions and then to Sydney for the program's "boot camp".

Though family are given little information about what might be televised they were told to watch Seven's X Factor talent show on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this week.

And the word has spread throughout the extended school community, with students and families all staying glued to the episodes.

Judah's father Rob Kelly said he saw just a glimpse of his son on Monday night, so tonight could be the night.

Mackay North High music teacher Kathy George said he was an extremely talented student.

"I have had goose bumps when he was singing, she said.

"He has done quite a few solos in school productions, and he has a wonderful range.

"I don't usually watch these shows, but I did last night, and I will be glued to it again tonight."

X Factor screens at 7.30 tonight on Seven.
