Joshua Blair helps Bruno Mars win a Grammy

FORMER Lismore local Joshua Blair has narrowly missed taking home his own Grammy award for his work with Bruno Mars, after the category he was nominated for, Record of the Year, went to Daft Punk.

However, the night was not lost, with Bruno Mars picking up the award for Best Pop Vocal Album for Unorthodox Jukebox, which Mr Blair helped to create.

Mr Blair, who flew from his current home in London to Los Angeles for the event, said the night was "fantastic" and "bigger than expected".

He said the Grammy after-party was equally impressive with "half the auditorium" attending.

The former Northern Rivers resident is now working in the UK as a freelance recording/mixing engineer and producer.

To date, he has worked with big names including Beyonce, Duran Duran, Leona Lewis, Delta Goodrem and the Scissor Sisters.

Mr Blair said his plans for 2014 involve continuing to work with Duran Duran and hopefully being nominated for a Grammy again next year.
