Josh on 'long form'

AUSTRALIAN longboard surfing champion Josh Consttable headlines the annual Evans Head Longboard Invitational that drops in to action today.

Constable, of Noosa, has been in sensational form this year but he will be pushed all the way this weekend with last year's Australian champion and this year's runner-up Dane Pioli also competing.

Arrawarra amateur Jared Neal and Angourie's Bryce Young, both ranked 17 in the world, will also suit up for the Evans event that will mostly centre on Main Beach, but may hold heats at Shark Bay and Chinamans Beach.

Former Invitational winner Matt Aldridge is also expected to be a force while the best of the locals is expected to be Evans Head surfer Ruben Roxburgh.

Top female longboarders will also compete including Ballina's Isabell Braly and Melissa Combo and former national champions Lisa Nicholson and Sally Paxton.

More than 200 surfers are expected to hit the waves, with the finals contested on Monday.
