BYRON BAY’s Josh Brown carried his surf life saving club’s colours with distinction by winning the Under-13 surf race at the NSW Age Surf Life Saving Championships at Blacksmiths Beach in the Hunter region at the weekend.

Josh was part of a healthy contingent of Far North Coast competitors and clubs at the annual championships.

Other locals to fare well were Scarlett Fahey (Lennox Head-Alstonville), who won the Under-11 board rescue and was second in the Under-11 iron woman, and clubmate India Brown, who was third in that event.

Lennox Head-Alstonville ended the championships the highest of the Far North Coast clubs, securing a place in the top 20 (19th) with 44 points. The strong city clubs dominated the championships with Manly top dog on 208 points.
