RV Council hosting party to celebrate Casino's south side

RICHMOND Valley Council is inviting all residents to come and enjoy Celebrate on the Southside, an event that focuses on South Casino and all it has to offer.

The night will include the lighting of the water reservoir, the first major project completed as part of the council's new Public Art Strategy.

The tower is iconic but also an eyesore, and the council wanted to make it a beacon of light for everyone to enjoy as they travel back home or pass by at night. The 12 lights surrounding the tower change colours and can be programmed to suit different events, like going all pink for Pink Ribbon Day.

The event is also to relaunch South Casino. Plans will be on display of beautification changes and how South Casino CBD will be incorporated into the same style as Casino CBD, with street banners and timber seating which has been made by Casino's Community Men's Shed.

The night will also provide a chance to come and view the recently purchased Drill Hall, with a free sausage sizzle on offer to all who come along.

As part of the opening of the Drill Hall, the council wanted to show how the grounds can be used.

Bring your picnic rug and chairs and come and celebrate all the great things happening in Casino.

Thursday, October 8 at 5pm at Casino Drill Hall.
