John’s hole-in-one a highlight in Lismore aggregate stableford

DAVID Townend, David Harris, Jason Durheim and Peter Michael were celebrating after teaming up to take the honours at Lismore Workers Golf Club's latest competition.

The quartet sealed a win in the four-man aggregate stableford on Saturday.

Some good all-round golf at the Barham Street club sealed first place in the event, which saw all players' scores contribute to their team's performance.

The runners-up at the contest, which attracted about 170 players, were Chris Haselden, Josh Straub, Jim Stewart and Mark Hilder.

It was a memorable day for John Reading, who hit a hole-in-one on the 130m second.

"I think that is his second one ever, so he was tickled pink," Lismore club professional Peter Jaeger said.

"He had a big grin on his face for the rest of the day - and no-one could blame him.

"There was some good golf played across the day. It was a good event."

Preparations are now continuing for one of the club's biggest events of the year next Saturday.

More than 200 players are expected for the four-person Ambrose.

Friends of members are invited to take part.

Anyone wanting more information should contact Peter Jaeger on 66216016.

There were plenty of new names among the prize winners in the single stableford for Christmas hampers at the Casino Golf Club on Saturday.

Greg Ryan put together 42 points, the best score of the day, to win B-grade while Gary Chidgey continued on his comeback trail by taking C-grade with 40 points.

A-grade went to Michael Vidler with 38 points.

This Saturday, being the final game before Christmas, will be a 2BBB stableford, and feature the traditional monster rundown for teams with both members at presentation.
