Jobs could be lost on North Coast

The North Coast cannot afford the price increases that will flow from the Rudd Government's Emissions Trading Scheme if it is passed in its current form, according to North Coast Nationals Senator Fiona Nash.

“The Nationals support the negotiation of amendments which make Labor’s proposed emissions trading scheme better for regional Australia,” Senator Nash said.

“I have said from day one that I cannot support any scheme that affects jobs and productivity in regional Australia.

“North Coast residents, especially aged pensioners, are already reeling from the double whammy of $200 a year increases in both their electricity and petrol bills because of price rises by NSW Labor.”
