Jobless rate is the lowest since August: ABS

AN EXTRA 13,900 people were employed in November, pushing the unemployment rate down 0.1% to 5.2%, Australian Bureau of Statistics figures revealed on Thursday.

The ABS data showed the number people employed rose to 11,546,400 last month, driven by a rise in part-time employment, up 18,100 to 3,414,200 in November.

But the rise in part-time employees was offset by a fall in the number of people employed full-time, down 4200 to 8,132,200.

The number of hours Australians worked in November rose, up 1.3 million to a total 1622 million hours worked during last month.

But the labour force participation rate, another important indicator, fell 0.1 percentage points to 65.1% in November.
