Jim's day out
GRAFTON trainer Jim Madigan led in a winning treble at the Casino greyhounds last Friday.
Litter mates Royal Victory and Black Dolce continued their good form with strong wins.
By El Galo out of Cheeky Renegade, this pair continued to add to their impressive record at Casino.
Royal Victory handled the drop back to the 411m sprint, beginning brilliantly from box four and eventually drawing away to score by four lengths in a slick 23.03s.
It was the fourth win from six outings at Queen Elizabeth Park.
Black Dolce was not the best to begin over 484m but negotiated heavy traffic on the first turn to open a good break and draw away for a strong win in 27.79s, taking her tally to seven wins from 12 starts at Casino.
Madigan completed the winning treble with Hanify's Gem (El Galo - Miss Hanify) in a 5th Grade (484m).
Beginning only fairly from box eight, Hanify's Gem was trapped three wide for most of the journey but chased tenaciously and had two lengths to spare on the line.
It was only her third outing at Casino and she is sure to benefit from the run.
Local owner/trainers Lyn and Brad Northfield again went home with a winning double.
Bralyn Stripes made it three wins on end when he dominated the Westlawn Finance Sprint (411m).
Beginning brilliantly from box four, he quickly opened up a winning break and scored by 3¼ lengths from Half Track in a slick 22.82s. The win was his 12th from 25 starts over the distance at Casino with eight minor placings.
The Northfields' second victory came with promising youngster Bralyn Nicky ( Bombastic Shiraz - Bralyn Maisie) which had an easy victory in a 5th Grade (484m), scoring by 12¼ lengths in 27.32s.
The Pat Lavis owned and trained I Can Do made it two in a row at long odds when successful in a 5th Grade (411m).
Storming home, I Can Do paid $39.30 for the win on the TAB which followed a recent victory at Lismore for a similar dividend.
The trainers' jackpot at Casino is now $5000 after Day Seas Jake was unsuccessful last Friday.
