Jetstar trials new service from Ballina to Sydney

SAME day travel between Ballina and Sydney will be possible for the next three months starting from Saturday, with Jetstar trialling a new service.

"While many regional areas have been lobbying for an early morning flight from Sydney, Ballina Byron Gateway Airport has been able to secure these flights as a trial from September to December 2014," a spokeswoman said.

"Operating an A320 aircraft, Jetstar flights in September will depart Sydney at 6.40am and arrive at Ballina at 7.55am. The aircraft will then depart Ballina at 9.10am for Sydney. "Our friendly airport is easy to use, close to home and offers cheap car parking. We need all local businesses and residents to help us keep these flights for the long term.

"If these flights are not utilised and well supported, the airline will remove these services."
