Jennings on fire for the Panthers

BRILLIANT centre Michael Jennings scored a hat-trick and had a hand in two more Penrith tries to scream out his credentials to NSW State of Origin selectors as his side thrashed Manly 40-22 in the NRL last night.

Controversially overlooked for the Blues' first two Origin losses, Jennings' attacking genius was there for all four selectors to see as the Panthers ran as hot as the pink jerseys they were auctioning for charity after the game.

The 22-year-old almost certainly played himself back into a sky blue jersey for the dead rubber against Queensland in Sydney on July 7.

In the other game last night, St George Illawarra rolled on but it wasn't all good news for the competition leaders with prop Michael Weyman almost certain to be rubbed out of Origin III thanks to a dangerous tackle in his side's 34-10 win over Wests Tigers.

Jamie Soward did his best to play himself into the NSW line-up with a brilliant display for the Dragons.
