Japanese striker a boost for Byron

BYRON BAY will unveil their new Japanese signing Kazuhiro Tsukamoto when they travel to Crawford Park to take on Alstonville in one of two catch-up games in Football FNC premier league soccer tonight.

After waiting more than a month to secure his international clearance, the Rams will finally get to start the skilful striker, who has speed and touch and has played in the third tier of the J-League.

Reports from the Rams’ camp suggest Tsukamoto could be one of the best players the club has ever signed, with hopes high that he will be a natural replacement for former striker and dual golden boot winner Jordy Campbell, who is now playing in Newcastle.

In the other game, Ballina should break into the top five when they host last-placed Bangalow at Saunders Park.

The seasiders will be high on confidence after a spirited win over Italo Stars last week, while the Bluedogs are still chasing their first competition point of the season.

Both games will kick off at 8 o’clock.
