Jan's daily double

LOCAL greyhound trainer Jan Finneran landed a winning double with litter mates Kihael Cocktail and Classy Kihael at the Casino meeting last Friday.

Kihael Cocktail made full use of box one in scoring in a 5th Grade (411m), having a length to spare on the line from Regs Web in 23.48s.

It was the greyhound's second win from eight starts.

Classy Kihael started from box eight and, after being out of touch with the lead early, stormed home to score running away by 6¼ lengths in 23.63s in a Maiden (411m).

The winning pair - from a Trewly Special-Kihael Kruiser litter - have just turned two years old.

Grafton trainer Jim Madigan also had a winning double with litter sisters Royal Victory and Black Dolce.

Royal Victory took out the Casino Golf Club Final (484m), which was worth $2000 to the winner.

Exploding from box six, Royal Victory won easily by 7¾ lengths from Bralyn Nicky and Sheza Midnight.

Black Dolce also had an easy win in a 5th Grade (484m), clocking 27.46s with fast early sections to score by six lengths from Lyrical Genius and Dayseas Jake.

From an El Galo-Cheeky Renegade litter, Royal Victory (three wins from five outings at Casino) and Black Dolce (six wins from 11) have shown a liking for the Queen Elizabeth Park circuit.

Miss Eureka, prepared at Dulguigan by Glenda Dart, had an emphatic win in a 5th Grade (620m), taking her Casino record to two wins from three starts.

Justifying her short price, Miss Eureka took control of the race in the middle section and drew away for an easy win in 35.83sec.

Bralyn Stripes continued on his winning way for Lyn and Brad Northfield, taking out the 411m sprint in 23.17s.

Bralyn Stripes had to work hard in the middle stages when Propela pushed up on his inside and again on the turn when Melodious Lad loomed as a threat but changed course from the inside to track around Bralyn Stripes, which allowed the winner to move away.

Local trainer Allan Lang was pleased with the win of Detective Ted in a Maiden (484m) but would rather the dog had scored at his previous outing when he carried the trainer's jackpot of $4430.

The trainer's jackpot was not won again last Friday (Yorklea Sunrise) when $4710 so trainers will be keen to draw it as it rapidly approaches $5000.

Tweed-based Naughty As continued on her winning way with a strong win in a 5th Grade (411m).

Having only her 17th start, she recorded her seventh victory and has now won from all boxes except one and two - a testament to her great early pace.
