Ms Everingham has been modelling for about five years and this is her first time competing in a beauty pageant.

"One of the best parts of being involved in a pageant is giving back to my community," she said.

"Living rurally I feel like I'd be able to give back a lot ... Miss World is charity-based, so I'm able to support a charity and fundraise."

Ms Everingham said her first fundraising event for Variety - the Children Charity, which is Miss World Australia's chosen charity, will happen within the next month.

Variety aims to empower Australia's sick, disadvantaged or special needs children and helps them overcome the obstacles they face to live a happy and vibrant life.

Ms Everingham said she was keen to continue volunteering in the Lismore community.

"I've applied to do volunteer work at the PCYC," she said.

"At this point I'm looking at getting as much community involvement as possible."

She also owns 30 head of Angus beef cattle, is a brown-belt in Yoseikan Karate and with prior experience working at Norpa, she's keen to continue working in events.

"I keep a diary with me and I do all my planning through that," she said.

"I like to put my eggs in every basket."

The Miss World Australia Sydney Preliminary Finals were held on March 12-13, and the state final will be held later this year.

"I feel so proud to have gotten this far," she said.

"I felt confident on the catwalk but I did study a lot for my Q&A.

"Those are based on social issues in Australia, and I studied quite hard for that ... it was mentally and physically challenging."

If Ms Everingham is successful at the state final she will go straight through to the national final, which then leads into the international competition, Miss World, in London.

The aim of the Miss World competition is to to encourage women to lead a compassionate and humanitarian life.
