Man who watched child beastiality, bondage, has been jailed

A DAD is behind bars after his girlfriend found sickening images of child pornography on his laptop and took it to police.

Police uncovered more than 20,000 photos and videos in what was a library of categorised material.

Allan McDonald, 41, a Biloela machinery operator, was jailed for three years with a parole release date of 12 months.

He pleaded guilty in Gladstone District Court to distributing and possession of child exploitation material in February 2013.

Judge Michael Burnett heard how McDonald was viewed as a decent, hardworking family man who became addicted to child pornography.

Crown prosecutor Susan Hedge said McDonald made full admissions and revealed how four years before the offences he went to police with images of child pornography and was told to never again go near such child-exploitation sites.

She said significant material was held on USB sticks so McDonald did not lose it if his computer crashed or so he could watch child pornography on a bigger television screen.

Although McDonald denied it was for "sexual gratification" Ms Hedge said the Crown did not accept this.

McDonald blamed alcohol abuse, relationship break-ups, "having something wrong with his head"' or becoming caught up in a loop.

Ms Hedge said the images had been categorised from one to five (worst), saying it had been very concerning that there were a significant number in category four.

There were also images (and videos) in category five that included bestiality, child bondage and deprivation of liberty.

Ms Hedge said he admitted actively sharing the offensive material with others online, including drop boxes.

"It's all vile, repugnant material," said Judge Burnett.

"It is grossly offensive. It offends every instinct in a normal human being.

"You told police you did not know why. You thought then it was harmless fun.

"It defies imagination that you did this for any other reason (than sexual gratification)."

On release McDonald will serve three years supervised probation.
