And now for a dog show that's completely different

IF you and your beloved pooch are looking for something different and fun to do this weekend, Animal Rights and Rescue Group may have just the thing for you.

The group is holding its first Bangalow Family Fun Dog Show on Sunday, where any owner and their pooch can turn up and take part.

Starting at 10.30am on Sunday, the (not-so-serious) dog show boasts categories such as Best Dressed, Waggiest Tail, Cutest Eyes, Face Only an Owner Could Love, Prettiest Bitch, Best Trick, Golden Oldie, Best Presented, Handsomest Dog, Egg and Spoon, along with the finale and Top Dog.

Also featuring will be stalls with canine information and things from other related local groups, plus demonstrations by Barco Dog Obedience and Agility Training. Organiser Sue Haynes said the day is sure to be a winner for everyone.

"It's about having a lot of fun with your best friend, while also learning a bit about responsible dog ownership at the same time," she said.

"It's about the joys - and the responsibilities - of dog ownership."

Get your dog dressed up (and yourself, if you're brave) and take part, as they are expecting many of the furry friends to be dressed to the nines, Ms Haynes said.

There will be food, coffee, cakes and drinks available at the showground throughout the day.

Registration for the show costs $2 per entry. Phone 0414 291 055 for more details.
