THERE'S still 130 days left for Beef Week to arrive in Rocky but Geoff Murphy can already taste it.
The chairman of the Beef Australia committee is predicting Beef Australia 2012 to be the best and busiest yet with crowds from all over the world drawn to the triennial event (May 7 to 12).
"We've got a few new things happening," Mr Murphy said yesterday.
"We try to make improvements all the time and this year we've focused on genetics a lot more."
"We've touched on it in the past but we feel that's the direction we should be looking at."
Mr Murphy added that feedback had been crucial to their planning this time around and they had made some changes reflecting that.
"We got a lot of feedback from the locals saying that it should be open on the Monday so this will be the first time it will be open," the chairman said.
"We'll also be adding another 50 new trade displays so it's very exciting for locals and CQ."
The Man from Snowy River will also be playing for three nights throughout the week which Mr Murphy said locals would appreciate also.
"This is a very special event for Rockhampton and we are very grateful to all of those who have generously donated their time to help us organise this great event," Mr Murphy said.
With a jam-packed program running throughout the whole week, events will be held not only at the Rockhampton Showgrounds but also CQUniversity, CQLX at Gracemere and Rockhampton Leagues Club.
