It’s a Red letter day of mixed fortunes for Lee
IT was a mixed afternoon for Ballina trainer Stephen Lee at the Lismore Turf Club TAB meeting on Saturday.
Lee had five-year-old gelding Red Gaze ($3 fav-ourite) take out the $8000 Lismore Timezone Watchmakers Class 3 Hcp (2100m).
It hadn't placed since winning a Maiden at Murwillumbah in April.
Lee also had Orpheus Red finish last in the Priceline Pharmacy Class 1 (1200m)
The three-year-old won a maiden at Grafton last November before it was beaten almost 22 lengths on the Gold Coast last month.
In other races, four-year-old mare Carmela Miss made it back-to-back wins for Grafton trainer Hunter Kilner.
It took out the James Duffy Chiropractic Benchmark 50 Hcp (1300m).
Carmela Miss won her first start in March 2012 and recorded only her second win at Lismore last month.
It has now had three wins and six placings from 26 starts.
There is a short turn-around with more racing on the Northern Rivers today.
The Ballina Jockey Club has a TAB meeting with seven races scheduled.
