Is your community group in the Lantern Parade?

IMAGINE your community group making its Lantern Parade parade debut in front of 30,000 people in the heart of Lismore, part of the magic of this 22 year-old community event.

Afterwards you and your mates all get a wristband for entry into the Fiery Finale.

Lantern Parade director Jyllie Jackson reminded community groups to register now for the Community Lantern Project.

Feature lanterns are now up for grabs and to ensure your group isn’t left with slim pickings, best get in quick.

The Community Lanterns Project aims to provide opportunities for people to celebrate, have fun and express themselves in a creative way, while raising the profile of local charities and community organisations.

By registering and paying now, you are also helping festival volunteers scrape by finanicially with their preparations in the lead up to winter solstice.

How it works

Community groups nominate to participate in the parade carrying LightnUp feature lantern/s:

The Community group approaches a business to sponsor them to carry the LightnUp lantern/s

or

A business nominates a community group it would like to support.

We find a lantern that fits in with your organisation or you nominate your favourite lantern to carry.

If you book in early enough we can CREATE a lantern especially for your group, the costs for this are by negotiation. Approximately $500 - $1,700 plus gst.

The lantern/s are carried in the parade by six/eight people. Another 12 - 14 people can join in the parade with small lanterns, musical instruments, fairy lights costumes etc adding to celebratory atmosphere.

A placard bearing the name of the Sponsor and/or the Community Group is carried in front of the Lantern. (provided by the lantern parade).

The Community Lantern Sponsors and Organisations are acknowledged in the media, the Parade Website, FaceBook Page, the Parade Launch and in the event program.

This Community Lantern Project provides access to Oakes Oval for the finale for 20 people, any further tickets are available online or from the Lismore Visitor Information Centre.

how much does it cost?

Participation in the Community Lantern Project is $385.00 (inc gst), which assists in the cost of maintaining and constructing the lanterns and general production of the Lismore Lantern Parade.

Please note all parade participants, (up to 20 adult lanterneers) receive a wristband, which will give them access to the reserved area sitting on the grass in the Oval.

Further parade participants should purchase an extra lantern or a ticket for the Grassed Area - see website for info. Children under 15 years in the parade are free.
