Irving's shot hands Cavs Christmas gift

BASKETBALL: Aussie-born Kyrie Irving did it again.

With 3.4 seconds remaining in the traditional Christmas Day fixture, the superstar point guard hit a fade-away jump shot to give the Cavaliers the lead over the Warriors; a basket, reminiscent of the clutch shot he hit in game seven of the 2016 NBA finals.

Kevin Durant lost his balance on the ensuing play, sealing the Cavaliers' 109-108 victory, with the defending champions winning the first of two finals rematches this season.

Irving (pictured above left) finished the game with 25 points, 10 assists, seven steals, and six rebounds, while LeBron James led the way for the Cavaliers with 31 points and 13 rebounds.

For the Warriors - who led by as many as 14 points in the final period - Durant finished with a game-high 36 points and 15 rebounds. The Cavs trailed 94-80 early in the fourth quarter before rallying before a rowdy Christmas crowd.
