Insentive to shop locally

THE Lismore Chamber of Commerce wants to help you pay off your mortgage and all you need to do to win the $10,000 up for grabs is shop locally.

Lismore Chamber of Commerce president Mark Willoughby said the Credit Crunchers promotion aimed to encourage people to shop in Lismore.

“About $200 million to $300 million is lost in escape spending to the Gold Coast each year,” Mr Willoughby said.

“Driving to the Gold Coast costs over $70 in fuel, so you have to spend a lot to make a saving. I don't think people realise that it doesn't add up.”

To be in the draw, shoppers must spend their money at shops displaying the Credit Crunchers poster.

In June, a woman who spent $17 at Crazy Prices won a car worth $16,000 in a Chamber of Commerce promotion.

The promotion ends on September 23 and will be drawn at the Lismore Cup race day on September 25.
