Inglis says Australia will have to fight for Anzac Test win

THE odds are heavily stacked against New Zealand for the Anzac Test against Australia this Friday night at Canberra Stadium.

The Kiwis have not beaten the Aussies in a one-off Test since 2003, and they will be without injured stars Sonny Bill Williams and Benji Marshall.

But Kangaroos centre Greg Inglis is not buying into the talk that his team will win easily, after it had to fight hard for its 18-10 victory last time the two teams met.

"It's never an easy task against New Zealand, it never is against any side," he said.

"It is a World Cup year and people are playing for their positions."

Inglis touched on the fact there is harmony among the Kangaroos' playing group.

This despite a media storm that broke out last year after the Queensland-based players sang their team song after winning the October Test.

"It's definitely great to see all the faces again," he said.

"We come in and have a laugh."

Inglis said this Test meant a lot to him, despite calls which emerged last year from clubs to scrap the fixture.

Kangaroos fullback Billy Slater added to the debate, saying there's no prouder moment than pulling on the green and gold jersey.

"Everybody wants to wear the jersey, so I don't know what the critics are talking about, but the boys here will stick their chests out and have a lot of pride," Inglis said.

"We had a pretty light training run this morning, but ... in the back of our minds we know we've got a job to do this weekend."
