Information sought over stabbing during Lismore robbery

POLICE are appealing to the public for information after a man was stabbed during a robbery at Lismore Heights.

Richmond Local Area Command duty officer Inspector Nicole Bruce said a man, walking home, was approached by another man on Ballina Rd near the Lismore Heights Post Office and Shell service station.

"A 37-year-old man suffered a stab wound to his back left shoulder," she said.

"The offender stole the man's wallet and cigarettes."

Insp Bruce said a witness to the attack found the victim and comforted him before he was taken to Lismore Base Hospital and treated for his injuries.

She said the attacker was described as a man between 25 and 30 years old with a shaved head.

He was wearing a black shirt, knee-length pants and joggers.

Anyone with any information on the attack is asked to call Lismore Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
