Information day for foster carers

NORTH Coast Area Health Service will host an Information Day on Wednesday, June 30, in Lismore for foster carers to explain a new health service for children and young people.

Reforms to the Child Protection system have seen the introduction of a new service for all children and young people entering statutory Out of Home Care (OOHC). The new service is led by the NSW Department of Health.

The Health Assessment Service is a new service arising from the Keep Them Safe Initiatives and is being rolled out gradually across the North Coast Area Health Service.

The pilot service commenced in May and feedback from the first carers to access the service has been positive.

Foster Carers who would like to know more about the Health Assessment Service can attend the information day in Lismore.

To register phone the NCAHS co-ordinator Out of Home Care, Janet Cormick on 02 6656 7224. Registrations close Monday, June 28.
