Illegal camping in Byron down at Easter

IT was a quiet Easter for illegal camping in Byron Bay with just 133 fines issued over the long weekend in contrast to 650 over the New Year, Byron Shire Council governance manager Ralph James said.

"Rangers received no complaints relating to street camping on the after-hours service," Mr James said.

However, at least one resident has told of seeing the occupant of an illegal van camper take a dump in her neighbours yard in the middle of the night.
