ICAC calls for SES commissioner to be sacked for corruption

THE NSW corruption watchdog has called for the state's SES Commissioner Murray Kear to be sacked.

In a report released on Wednesday, ICAC found Mr Kear was corrupt in dismissing whistle-blower Tara McCarthy after she spoke out against Deputy Commissioner Steven Pearce.

The commission found Mr Kear had "deliberately failed to properly investigate" claims made against his friend, including that he rigged two SES contracts and used SES funds to buy roof racks and electric brakes for his car.

The report recommends NSW Police Commissioner Stuart Ayres "give consideration to taking action against Commissioner Kear for disciplinary offences of misconduct with a view to his dismissal".

The Public Services Association wants Ms McCarthy to be reinstated.
