Humpty Doo riders in town for showgirl day

WARWICK Showgirl entrant Amy Bradfield expects a large contingent of Warwick riders to support a showjumping fundraiser at the Warwick Showgrounds tomorrow. Bradfield said two riders from the Northern Territory would compete on Saturday.

"Finniss and Mac Beasy hail from Humpty Doo and are down here for some coaching," she said.

"I have been coaching them for a week and reckon they will be very competitive in the higher standard ring and the big bar competition where the jumps could go up to 1.3 metres," Bradfield said.

"We will have riders from the Fassifern and Lockyer valleys and northern New South Wales but the majority of the expected 100 riders will be from the Darling Downs.

"There will be a lot of pony club members competing."

The event will start at 9am tomorrow and there will be a sausage sizzle from 10am.

Competitions will be in eight events, including two six-bar competitions.

A multi-draw raffle with more than 40 prizes will be drawn at 2pm with competition going well into the afternoon.

Bradfield said the event tomorrow was a great opportunity for showjumpers to test their horses before the start of more serious competition during the show season which starts at Stanthorpe in late January.

Shows will be held at Allora, Killarney and Warwick in February and March.

Nominations will be taken on Saturday from 8am at the McConville Bar at the Warwick Showgrounds.
