Imaginative ways that posties deliver mail.
Imaginative ways that posties deliver mail. Sonya Britton

How does your postie deliver your mail? Readers share.

IT STARTED when a reader sent in her photo of how her postie delivers her mail.

Instead of putting the letters in the letterbox, they were jammed under and poking out of the lid of the wheelie bin next to it.

When asked if the letter box had any kind of obstruction the reader said ‘no’.

We decided to throw it out to our readers to share their quirky postie stories and thoughts and even provide a pat on the back to those who work hard to deliver our mail.

We even got a couple of comments from posties.

Michael Danby

“(Letters in the bin) saves a step as most mail ends up in the bin anyway.”

Shane Koning

“One of them we had would rather have a dozen attempts at reversing her old falcon wagon up the driveway so she could stay sitting in her vehicle to deliver the mail than getting out.

Spinning wheels on the wet grass and almost reversing into the house.”

Kerry Mortimer

“This was a subtle hint that the bin was blocking access to the letter box.”

Becky Zull

“Our postie and delivery guy are the bomb! Couldn't say enough good things about them!”

Leonie Stephenson

“I used to live in an upstairs unit and any time I had to sign for mail, the postie would give me a slip to pick it up from the post office instead of walking up the stairs. And no it wasn't because I wasn't home, I watch him do it quite a few times.”

Kerry Hensen

“Maybe he /she knew it was political stuff and that's where is was going anyway, saving the householder some time. As that's where ours go.”

Naomi Jenkins

“As a postie bin day is a bugger for access to a LOT of your mailboxes. We're just trying to do our job also. I deliver to 600+ each day so just imagine. Ps. that's not my run haha!”

Sonja Cottam

“Probably because to deliver to the box meant getting off the bike, and they are on very tight delivery time schedules as bosses are pushing for work done quickly, so its a hard choice, please the boss/times or please the customer.
