Housing estates first for NBN

ACCESS to super-fast internet on the National Broadband Network will becomes available to residents of new housing estates in the Northern Rivers, ahead of the general rollout across the rest of the region.

Roe Ritchie has recently purchased at Tallowood Ridge village on Tuckeroo Road in Mullumbimby.  Houses currently being built on the site will be among the first in the region to be connected to the NBN.

"I work remotely, as a lot of my business occurs in Melbourne and Brisbane," Mr Roe said. "So to have access to really fast internet is invaluable. The NBN coverage makes it possible for us to live in the most beautiful part of Australia and be connected in a fast efficient way to the rest of the world".

The Wollongbar Park Estate, off Sneaths Road, is also due to be connected to the NBN ahead of the general rollout. The NBN should be connected to the site before the first homes have been built in roughly two months, Wollongbar Estate owner Geoff Lawson said.

The general rollout of the NBN in Northern Rivers is not expected within three years, an NBN spokesperson said.
