Hornets keep top spot after win

GOONELLABAH has maintained its six-point buffer on top of the Football FNC premier league soccer ladder, after a 2-0 home win over a depleted Lismore Thistles on Tuesday night.

A headed goal from Dave Annetts and a clever chip over the goal-keeper from Thiago Priori gave the Hornets a 2-0 lead by half-time.

The Goonellabah side held a determined Thistles at bay after the break to maintain their undefeated premiership record this season.

The other game scheduled for Tuesday night between Alstonville and Byron Bay was washed out.
