Hopoate fined over red light row with parking inspector

A ROW with a parking inspector in Sydney's red-light district landed disgraced Manly Sea Eagles player John Hopoate in court on Tuesday.

The NRL star turned security guard had been working the door at Kings Cross nightclub earlier this year when he confronted a parking inspector who was writing out a ticket for his silver BMW.

Mr Hopoate threatened the man and told him that if he touched his car, he would f***** cop it".

Magistrate Jan Stevenson said the inspector had just "been doing his job" and fined Hopoate $400.

The father of 10 will have 28 days to pay the money.

His contract with Manly was terminated in 2005 after a series of indiscretions.
