Hoping for one more Fine Display
FINE DISPLAY will be fav-oured to take out the $20,000 Renzo Park Star Maker Final (520m) at the Lismore greyhounds’ big Christmas meeting tonight.
Fine Display did just that when she led all the way to win her heat on December 8 in a smart 30.19 seconds for the Triple State Confederacy and trainer Kevin Etchell.
The promising young Queenslander then easily accounted for her rivals to take out her semi-final in 30.52s on a track that was not conducive to fast times.
Fine Display has the early pace to make light work of her box four draw and if she leads in the run to the first turn it will take something special from her opposition to run her down.
Tiger Sing Man has done nothing wrong in his lead-up to the final tonight.
He won his heat in 30.35s on December 8 then did a good job to take out his semi in 30.55s from box eight.
Tiger Sing Man has drawn box eight tonight and he should get a clear run in the charge to the all-important first turn.
Spring Grove mentor Frank Hancock has done well to qualify three of his youngsters for the final – My Caballero, El Toreador and Papa Luigi.
A case can be made for My Caballero.
He improved markedly on his fourth in his heat to scrape through to the semi-finals then he ran Tiger Sing Man to three-quarters of a length when second in that race. He has drawn perfectly in box one.
El Toreador won his semi in 30.64s and will not need to improve much to make his presence felt tonight.
As usual Santa Claus will make an appearance with goodies for the kids. There will also be a face painter and jumping castle on hand to entertain the young ones.
