Hoof it to giant horse event

THE inaugural Heavy Horse and Horsepower Weekend this month promises to be a hefty weekend of true strength.

Run by the Casino Show Society the competition is drawing entries from Toowoomba, Kempsey and Armidale.

"It's a chance for families to come out and witness what these giants can do," organiser Ben Sullivan said.

"It will be a greattreat for spectators to see the led classes, cart and wagon, ploughing, pumpkin snatch and ridden classes during Saturday's festivities."

John Broadrick, a vintage machinery enthusiast, has had a fantastic response from collectors around the region with the Horsepower display gearing up to be one of the biggest in the Northern Rivers.

"We have a couple of semi trailers coming with vintage tractors and many people are bringing their old trucks or farm machinery such as chaff cutters, corn crackers and working engines," he said

The Heavy Horse and Horsepower weekend has had a fantastic response from local businesses with many coming on board to support its first year.

Casino Show Society will be running a silent auction during the day's activities which will be finalised at a dinner at the showgrounds on the Saturday.

To book for the dinner or for more information phone Casino Show Society on 6662 5991.
