Honour boards restored
THE restoration of nine honour roll boards has recently been completed by the Mid Richmond Historical Society at Coraki. This mammoth task was undertaken after the closure of many of the district country halls in the area.
"The Coraki Honour Board disappeared years ago when the old School of Arts building was demolished," society treasurer Margaret Williams said.
"With the help of a federal government Anzac Memorial Local Grant of $3196 this enabled us to restore the World War One Swan Bay and the World War One sections of the Coraki and Bora Ridge boards."
The historical society managed to cover the costs of completing the World War Two and Other Conflicts sections of the boards.
"We now have a very comprehensive display featuring our local servicemen and women," Ms Williams said.
"The handcarved Bungawalbyn board and the Buckendoon board were fully restored in 2012 with the help of a Foundation of Rural and Regional Renewal Grant."
The historical society in Adam St is open 12pm on Anzac Day after the march. Page MP, Kevin Hogan will be there at 3pm. Donations towards the costs welcome.
