Holly takes Showgirl title

HOLLY Cameron, of Evans Head, was all smiles last week when crowned 2012 North Coast National Showgirl.

The 19-year-old beat the other six competitors to win the title, announced during the official opening of the show.

"This is such a wonderful honour," she said.

"This has been such a good experience for me."

After the announcement, the excited Evans Head local admitted to having had plenty of nerves.

"My heart's beating out of my chest," she said.

One of the three judges, Rebekka Battista, of Our Kids, said Ms Cameron stood out because of her confidence and her amazing knowledge of the area.

"She'd done her research, she knew what she was talking about," Ms Battista said.

North Coast National Show secretary Janelle Hancock said this year's competition had been a hard pick as they had "a great selection of girls".

Ms Cameron will represent the North Coast A&I Society at various events over the year, acting as ambassador for Rural NSW and will compete against other 2012 showgirls at the next level of competition.
