Highs and lows of 2012 league

THE Woodburn/Evans Hd RSL Club Bombers felt the highs and lows of rugby league in the opening two rounds of the NRRRL 2012 season with First and Reserve grades both winning the opening encounter against Casino Cougars two weekends ago in front of a very vocal crowd of about 300 people.

The under 18s side put on a very brave performance with 14 men to go down 26 to 10. The Reserve grade tore the Casino line apart each time they had the ball and easily won 30 to 8. Refereeing his 400th 1st grade game Peter (Pencil) O'Connor blew the whistle to start the First grade's 2012 campaign. The Casino Cougars were never in the game being scoreless in the second half, and the Bombers went to the bell with a 20-6 win. Round Two in Grafton last Sunday, was a very different story with the 18s going down 42 - 0 to the Ghosts. The Reserve grade copped a 64 - 6 belting in their clash and First grade saw the Bombers lose both second rowers through injury in the opening 10 minutes. The Ghosts romped in try after try to eventually win 56 - 6. With no 18s game next Saturday, Reserve grade kick off at 1pm and First grade at 2.30pm, so come along and cheer our fellas on.
