Highfields mum sculpts her way to USA

SHEREE Paltridge sees people step out of their comfort zones every day as a personal trainer, but this year she decided it was time to step out of her own.

After 20 years of helping others achieve their fitness goals, she felt ready to set her own: become a body sculptor and win a trophy.

She managed to maintain the same diet as her three young daughters apart from the odd protein shake and recovery supplement if she had a tough session.

In May she set off for her first tournament in Brisbane, entered in four categories and was stunned to walk off the stage with all four first place trophies.

Two weeks later she repeated the experience, which allowed her into the professional competition.

She was again successful, taking out second place in the pro league and earning an invite to the Fitness America Weekend in Las Vegas later this month.

"There is a lot of stigma about the sport and people take a negative view about what they think people take to get results, but I'm a mother of three and I've done it by eating normal, healthy food," she said.

"My only supplement is a protein shake and a quick recovery supplement because I wanted to make sure I was eating the same thing as the children.

"I wanted to prove that you don't have to take all that silly stuff and you don't have to dehydrate yourself on the day just to look a certain way.

"What you see is what you get and I wanted to prove it is achievable by anyone."
